How To Be Violent 101 with Gold
what a deal
Shapes in the storm, Alexandra Khitrova
That’s a pretty big bite you took out of my ice bar, Dialga.
1) thumbnail and sketch; I do all of my thumbnails before sketching pages if at all possible! this is important to keep the flow consistent, so you’re in the same mindset all in one go. sketches are also important to do in one go if at all possible (or over the course of days if you’re like me and have to sketch 40 pages or more per chapter haha)
2) some values put down, with the sketch on a layer mode to add some dark values in; i pick from these later
3 + 4) i pick two hi-sat colors to place on top of the work, being careful to have places that overlap for nice color mixing and for nice colors to draw from later with the color picker
5) i only start rendering when I spot enough interesting colors everywhere that I think I can finish the page with those colors alone!
